Once you’ve gathered Hellstone, you’ll need Obsidian. It’s not as hard to find as Hellstone but it’s essential for forging your pickaxe. All in all, you’d need a total of 20 Hellstone and 60 Obsidians.

- As the water touches it, the lava turns into obsidian.

Hellstone
The Hellstone is found at the very bottom of the Terraria underworld. Harvesting it is quite challenging owing to its location. You’ll have to dig through the underworld’s solid blocks, igniting them on touch.
- It’s best to use an “Obsidian Skin Potion” to protect against heat damage for up to 4 minutes.
- A Nightmare Pickaxe or a Deathbringer might be handy to mine one.
